Till The World Ends

Nowadays I look in the mirror and I think, "Who is this?". Not that I don't recognise myself but I don't recognise myself. It's kind of silly - I've been busy with work - school work, FYP work, tuition work. Sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes I hate it. And before all this will end, I should decide on what work I'm going to do after I graduate. Which is kind of silly if you think about it. How does the majority of the people decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives? How do those strategic people start planning how they want to proceed and excel in their routes when I am here as clueless as a person without a clue?

Finding happiness is hard work. Accepting happiness is hard work. Knowing what you want and finding out how to get it... is beyond hard.

In other news, while thinking of what to wear for Put Your Heel Down at Zouk tonight, I am at a lost as to what to wear. Which is ridiculous. There needs to be another sale at Topman and I need to buy some clothes. This is all.

I can't take it take it take no more. Never felt like felt like this before. Come on get me get me on the floor. DJ what you what you waiting for.

Hold It Against Me

r01

The seventh era has begun.

I liked it the moment I heard it. She's not gone in a totally different direction, but she's pushing pop perfection to another level. It is signature Spears, those vocals, those spoken bits, that attitude... It is a whole 3:50 of wonderful.

The way the bass thumps to a pace that is described as the "closest aural representation of literal fucking that exists" is totally mind-blowing. The way it plays hide-and-seek throughout the song - mind-blowing. The way it sounds so dirty when it drops - mind-fucking-blowing.

The lyrics are more school yard chant than epic poetry but one line saved the entire track from total lack of imagination in this department.

"If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?"

It has rendered other songs unnecessary for the next week at least.

I haven't read a bad review of this song. It's possible that no one dares to give it a bad review.

It's Britney Spears.

3

I didn't think '3' was going to be awesome. I was thinking it'd probably be another B-side and would end up in the hearts of the crazy fans who'd bother with songs like Over To You Now or Chaotic.

However '3' turned out to be much more. It's an insane club stomper, relentless with its beats and crazy lyrics. Meaninglessness - check. Blasphemy - check. Sex - check. In fact, the song's about having a threesome. Now I'd really like to hear it getting played on radio. What does it teach kids? I don't know and I don't care.

There is even her signature moan at the end of the chorus.

I've waited an entire year for a new song. I still remember listening to bits and pieces of Circus last year when it got released while I was studying for the exams. Every release from Britney is like an event in my life!

As I listen to it on repeat for the second hour that I've gotten my hands on the mp3, I can't help but feel so alive. It's like a drug - it heightens your senses the moment you hear it.

Now that is the makings of a great pop song.

What do you say? Are you game?

The Circus Starring Britney Spears

There hasn't been a Britney post in a long time. Anyway unless you were living under a rock, Britney has started her tour across America and she's doing very well. Okay, so it isn't as good as her previous tour from what I've seen so far. She's not dancing as much and sometimes not a single song is live (except for some freak times she performed Everytime), but she's still the one to beat when it comes to that kind of power that she wields on stage.

There are a couple of epic moments. This is one of them.

2v1kv8x

It's another one of her re-enactments of mass orgy scenes. There're similar stuff in the Slave and Womanizer video. This was from her performance of Get Naked. Her best dance is arguably here where she puts in a bit more effort for Boys/If U Seek Amy:

Watch for the rude dance moves during ha-ha-hee-hee-ha-ha-ho! The official music video should debut tomorrow!

Billboard Hot 100 #1 - Womanizer

It's Britney, bitch! Her first #1 since 1999's ...Baby One More Time. This calls for an all-out celebration. No holds-barred! I can't explain how happy I am. Imagine waiting for 9 years in your career so you can get another #1, not knowing if you'll ever get another #1... you know what I mean!

I cannot express how I feel now. I think it'll probably take another post but... for now...

Swagger Of A Champion

This week I've sang/danced POM in school with Jac.

Just saying.

I weighed myself on Friday evening and I'm 55kg. I am disgusted. I have no idea how I'm getting lighter and lighter. If this goes on, I might just shrink into space. The only thing that I feel that I've been doing different compared to this time last year is that I haven't been exercising as much. And I don't have Daniel to cook me potato with mayo and butter for supper. Gosh! Comments about me getting skinnier have been piling and I can't take it anymore! Sigh. Okay, I'll eat more and see what happens.

I think this sem is one of my craziest. Okay, I've only been in Uni for the third sem, but it seems to be getting more hectic every sem! It's another reason why I'm getting thinner, I bet! I decide to do less extra-cirricular stuff, and I end up having much more school work! It's scary.

My current obsession is Graphic Comm, which I took to print yesterday with Ros.

I know it's possible that the tutor wouldn't like it. I haven't really consulted him much on the idea becuase some how the idea didn't cement itself during the consultation sessions I've had with him. I hope he doesn't get a shock when he sees it. I know it's not a particularly impressive piece, but I did put in a lot of effort and I guess at the very least that's something I can be proud of.

And Britney was such an inspiration, as usual. I've got a bit of Missy Elliot, a bit of Energy in there, but I've got like 2 lines from MATM and another 2 from Womanizer. Haha...

Speaking of which the new Britney Spears video is OUT! It's crazy how much of my life is linked to what she's doing. I think this is probably the third time I've mentioned her in this post. Anyway you can check out the video over here. It's really an awesome come back from the mediocre GM and POM(mediocre for her but better than every other boring shit who has dared to have music videos Miley *coughs*).

There are many crazy elements for the Britney fans. The beginning word title is how Stronger began. There's the office scene that mirrors some Slave sequences. There's the fat guy in the Toxic video. There's Britney with wet hair close up from MATM. There's that angle where she's feeding the cherry that reminds me of ILRNR. Then the bed sequence is quite Toxic too. I could come up with a thesis of this but I think it belongs to another entry.

I shall not start on the steam room scenes.

Okay, so maybe just one line:

Smokin'.

Beyonce, I can't think of a worse time to release a music video.

The last acting lesson was a blast. I enjoy going for lessons because everyone's really hilarious. They are disgustingly good at improv and caused us to laugh so crazily that... well, it was certainly one of the most memorable lessons. I was real glad that when Ros and I were the last people up there, it was actually hilarous. The worst part is that It got so funny that I actually broke out of character and laughed along. I can't describe the feeling but I walked back to hall after the lesson with a huge, huge smile plastered on my face.

I bet I looked retarded. But it was a great feeling.

Now if only those mugging mods were equally fun.

Sigh.

School, Britney, CL

I wanted to start this entry talking about cheerleading but I thought that would be very predictable, so, maybe I'll move on to something less predictable, like school.

I hate talking about school. It's been a nasty piece of work recently, and it gets worse when you're struggling to understand how what you're learning relates to you. I'm really quite lost during Info Lit & Interpretation as well as Fundamentals of Research. In fact, after last sem's Fundamentals of Maths, I feel a strong sense of repulsion when I see modules that begin with the word "Fundamental". However the tutor is rather good, so that's something to be thankful for. I'm quite sianified by the assignments because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do exactly (and most of my school mates concur). I don't feel that I have enough time to do it so... yeah I'm so screwed. The only thing I did right was taking Visual Literacy & Comm because that is a hell lot of fun. Although it does seem like a lot of work, I guess it'll be a lot of fun too. We spent our 2 hour tutorial today fiddling with videocameras. Ooh yeah and they don't seem to be plagued by endless readings too.

During that tutorial today I was also asked to introduce myself and then tell the class something interesting to remember me by. The only thing that I could think of was that I liked Britney, but being a wreck as she is (I'm still proud of her) I didn't think she'd do wonders for my first impression (which obviously doesn't matter because your first impression of her was dancing in sexy school uniform in ...Baby One More Time than Gimme More at VMAs), so I ended up revealing the fact that I got my name Jason from the Power Rangers. The Red Ranger, anybody? It's something that never fails to amaze.

Speaking of Britney Spears, the other song that have playing everyday other than Janet's Feedback, is Piece of Me. James Masterton of http://www.launch.co.uk/ accurately points out the singer's current situation as her current single slams itself into #2 on the UK Singles Charts this week.

By way of no small coincidence, it is a team of Swedish songwriters who are behind the success of the surprise Number 2 single of the week, a single which just so happens to feature Robyn on backing vocals. The track in question is 'Piece Of Me' from Britney Spears for whom it seems there is no such publicity as bad publicity. The followup to Top 3 hit 'Gimmie More', the ability of Britney Spears to sell pop records in the face of what is becoming an increasingly disturbing tabloid-fuelled meltdown is something at which we can only marvel. Whereas once she was feted for her looks, her personality and her talent as a performer, virtually all her media coverage at the present time is focused on her declining health, her fractured personal life and her deteriorating state of mind. Her promotional work for her music is precisely zero, yet for all of this her records are selling in such a way that chart books of the future will record this period as one of her most artistically fruitful ever whilst the newspapers tell a story that is quite the reverse. 'Piece Of Me' is now her biggest hit since 'Everytime' topped the singles chart in 2004 and at this point I'd normally make some comment about how the track compares musically to past endeavours. On the face of it however, it hardly seems to matter.

Britters went out for shopping at 2:20AM yesterday in torn fishnet stockings and no underwear.

I went to JB to get my hair cut yesterday. I like how it is now, although I guess everyone else has to get used to it. I've always had my hair short, and last semester was probably the only time in my life I had my fringe covering my forehead! Well, you certainly can't please everyone and it's definitely easier to deal with so... no regrets! Oh, and it was only 12 bucks cos I had 30% off. I was quite disappointed that my stylist didn't work there anymore and they got someone else to cut my hair. It's good, but the other guy was much, much better. Going to JB was also therapeutic. It's been some time since I've been there and the atmosphere is just different there. It's like a great escape from hectic studying schedules and all!

I've received my cheerleading uniform and I think it looks a bit big on me. Not that it's going to affect my performance. I'm now confident of most of the stunts that I have to do except the cartwheel which I've got to do in front of everybody! I'm just not consistent with it - sometimes it looks passable and sometimes it sucks. I have just 3 more trainings to get it right though, and I'm sure that's more than enough time. It's also kinda sian that people are getting injured because aside from the fact that we can't do the stunts (which basically relies on teamwork), it's kind of painful to see your teammates in pain. All of us have our little injuries here and there so we don't feel wonderful and perfectly alright, but for those who are injured that badly, I think we've got a pretty good picture of what they must be undergoing to keep them out of action. Whatever it is, we're going down to have an on-site rehearsal this Saturday morning, and Wednesday is the day that we'll be having our competition.

I still cannot get over the fact that there's only 3 more trainings! Ahh!

BIllboard Bitch

I'm apalled.

All through the past week, ever since Blackout hit the stores, Billboard has been reporting that it would debut at the top of the pile, no matter the competition. After that news came out that the Eagles were actually selling almost double of what she was selling but they weren't elibigle to chart as they were only sold by one retailer. Or some shit like that. Imagine my shock when I found out that... well... Bah.

"Geoff Mayfield, director of charts at Billboard, said Spears' album could debut at No. 1 with sales of between 200,000 and 300,000, well down on the more than 600,000 copies sold of previous album In the Zone during its first week. " - 24th Oct

"Britney Spears looks to have a clear path to top The Billboard 200.

First-day sales from the eight chains that report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building Charts put Spears' Jive/Zomba release "Blackout" at 124,000 on the report released today (Oct. 31).

The Building Charts also seem to confirm that the nation's biggest seller, Wal-Mart, will not report sales on its U.S. exclusive, the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden," as that much-anticipated album is missing from the Wednesday list.
" - 31st Oct

"With their first studio title in nearly 30 years, the Eagles land atop The Billboard 200 with "Long Road Out of Eden," which sold 711,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan... As reported last night, this marks the first time Billboard has allowed exclusive album titles that are only available through one retailer to appear on its charts." - 6 Nov

It's a fucking conspiracy. Walmart and Billboard suck. If they wanted to be taken seriously I don't see why they couldn't have announced it earlier or changed it the following week instead. Other artists like Garth Brooks opened with #1 sales last Christmas and they didn't do shit to it. So now Britney's releasing an album they've just got to ammend the damned rule moments before the chart's published? Just writing about Britney going to #1 all week and then suddenly dropping the bomb that the Eagles would be #1 is just unacceptable.

The significance of course, was that it was gunning for another record to be in the books. Baby One More Time went #1. Oops! went #1. Britney was #1. In The Zone hit #1. Her greatest hits and remix CD didn't hit number one but no one cared. But this is her 5th studio album! It's the first one not the go #1! It's a freaking conspiracy - poised for top spot till the very damned last second!

How professional of Billboard.

On the bright side, Piece of Me debuts at #65 on the Hot 100. Definitely one of the best songs on her album, so it better do well.

Edit - Okay, actually I'm really upset over this. I never thought I would take such nonsense seriously, but after reading all the comments on Billboard, I really felt that she was robbed of the top spot, that Billboard's unethical. I don't know their reasons for doing so, because the move is so controversial - to change the rule 24 hours before the release of the chart. Is it to reward the Eagles because they did indeed sell more? Or was it to get publicity? There's so much hate and dissatisfaction... As an observer of the music industry for the past decade... sigh. This is disappointing.

Break The Ice

I suppose I need to do more studying during the weekdays and keep Saturday totally free for a day of guilt-free fun. Every moment that I'm having fun there's always this nagging feeling of work to be done. They're piling up in a corner, secretly, kind of like dust and you don't notice them until they combine powers to form a huge repulsive dustball on the floor and you just can't help but freak out.

I'm not sociable. Yes I know. For the millionth time, don't give me the look of utter shock when I reveal that I'm taking CS. It's not funny. I'm quiet, and that's who I am most of the time. I had a lot of fun playing volleyball yesterday. I think it almost amounted to 3 hours of continuous play. It's damn fun, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I'm glad Vince called me along. They were all seniors and nearing the end Zinc asked me why I was so quiet! I didn't feel uncomfortable or anything, so I guess that's just my normal self.

3 huge birthdays coming up next week, and I'm quite stressed. It's kind of cool that all the cool people celebrate their birthdays in the very cool month of October, but it's not cool that I am only one month away from exams. I have 2 term papers to do and a lot of other stuff like preparing for my group speech and final theatre presentation.

I think I need to focus more and it'll all be fine.

I'm distracted by the fact that Britney's video for Gimme More has been leaked, Jay's 19th Jan concert tickets are fucking expensive and J.Lo's live performances of Do It Well have been rather impressive. Also, Garbage has an amazing Greatest Hits album out, I am very tempted to buy Paris Hilton's album after hearing a HQ versh of it at HMV today and I can't get enough of Jolin's album.

I'm feeling fitter everyday after Water Polo on Monday, running on Thursday and Volleyball on Friday. Abs. Abs. Abs.

If only I could spend my weekends laying on the beach with nothing on my mind.

VMAs Opening Act

I've just been to http://www.breatheheavy.com/ and I can't breathe anymore! I was going to write an entry with real depth rather than my usual I've been up to this and that, but I guess I'm that shallow. So. Britney's the opening act for today's MTV Video Music Awards! The link shows her rehearsing for her performance. Her body's banging! From this moment, whoever says she's fat needs to get their eyes checked.

You can hop onto MTV's official website here where there's an entire writeup devoted to the crazy hype. She seems to be collaborating with magician Criss Angel as well, so I can't be blamed for being this excited about her performance.

Although MTV suck big time and haven't given her an award yet (bastards), she's given them some of TV's biggest, most-talked-about performances to date.

01

01

01

Once the entire VMAs is over, newpapers and gossip rags everywhere will report on the event as if she was the only one who performed. How the other acts are going to top her or even share the same damned stage as her, I seriously don't know.

Gimme More

She actually has the balls to make her fans wait 4 years for another album after what was probably one of her biggest albums to date - ITZ. But now she's back, and she'll make the wait worth it with the very sexy Gimme More. You can stream it on breatheheavy.com. I am speechless as well, it'll be cool to see how well this song'll do. It's just amazing to hear her voice on some new material.

Bitch is back!

Jobless No More

So I went to take my pink IC on Monday. Bumped into Sgt Wei Jian. Didn't meet up with the rest of the guys who ORD on the same day as me because they managed to collect theirs much earlier in the day. Before I left the camp, I ran into Max who told me about interesting MSN conversations. Then, when I wasn't looking, this car sneaked up on me. I know, how could a freaking huge car sneak up on me right? But I was probably too engrossed in the conversation to notice that it came so close that I could touch it if I held my hand out! It was my PS, and wound then the window and demanded for his ORD present - roast chicken or roast duck. Not that he was ORD-ing too, you know what I mean; it's for his contribution to his ORD-ing platoon - us. Apparently another platoon gave their PS some souveneir.

Maybe I'll blow this image up to 8R and give it to him to remember us by! This was taken at our unit anniversary celebrations last Friday. Hahaha... He's the guy on the right side of the top row. Anyway, I can't describe the feeling of collecting the pink IC. It's like losing something and finally finding back after 1yr and 10 months!

The day after I went around reporting to various job agencies and reporting for one interview, which didn't go down too well. I don't think they wanted me in the first place. After a generally tiring day, I got a call at night that gave me a confirmation - I would be employed starting from Monday, at Wisma Atria! The pay's decent and I'm quite excited about it. Afterall, it's going to be the first real job that I have. Throughout the day I was anxious about not getting a job, and the feeling of getting one was like lifting a huge load off my shoulders.

I spent yesterday stoning at home. It's a horrible feeling. To be in between jobs (if you could consider being an NSF a job) makes me feel that there's something lacking in life!

Thankfully, I spent this morning rather productively by visiting the swimming pool with Sidney. I got a chance to tan and swim before the sky became crowded with clouds. The weather is terribly unpredictable! He treated me to a can drink before I went to get myself chicken noodles for lunch at home! I'll be meeting Si Hua and Sequeena later! How exciting! Considering we haven't met in 2 months or so, we're just dying to see each other. Haha...

On other Britney news (I think I'm overdoing it already), she appeared this week in NYC for the David Letterman show, and seems very happy about the divorce. And she's back in shape. It's not good enough for touring, but certainly good enough to pose for magazines and her new album cover!

Ooh, and here's a clip of how Rosie O'Donnell celebrated the good news. *throws confetti*
