Secrets

Okay, the reason why I'm online these couple of days is because I'm sick. Well, some people may think that it's a great form of escape that I managed to book out to stay home, but when it feels this bad, it isn't really worth it to get sick just to get out of army. And I'm scheduled to be on off today anyway. I could do without feeling this bad. Anyway, I went to the sick bay for a couple of hours and was poked 3 times before the IV drip was set up. I know that the pain was in no terms excruciating, but it did hurt. However it made me feel thankful to be alive and okay; I felt that I shouldn't take my health for granted.

It's amazing what a few seconds of pain can teach you.

I've got a flu, a stomachache and a bit of a fever. I don't feel very well. I wanted to clean up the place a little before I had my friends over this weekend, but I guess I might be too tired to do it. I just might do it later in the day.

Ooh, and I drank a can of beer during cohesion, and I realised that I couldn't take any more than that. But who the hell invented beer anyway! I can't finish a couple of gulps without screwing up my face in repulsion. Not that I let anyone see it though. Yeah, it took that one can to get my face flushed and my brains to function less-than-normal. I know my limits better now. The first time I started drinking was in J2. Guess I was of legal age then, and I puked. And then there was my birthday where my ex came by to give me a surprise, and I was wasted. I'm not on good terms with alcohol, but...

Well, I learnt that everyone has their secrets and you can never get to know 100% of anybody. But the extent which you open up shows how much you trust the other person, and how much that person means in your life. I'm glad I've got a couple of good friends like that, but I haven't met them in a really long time. It's not an excuse, it's a reason - I'm saving up for the Thailand trip which is happening next weekend! I'm really excited about it. It's the only thing I look forward to nowadays.

With regards to secrets, I've been reading this and I found it real meaningful. Real life is always stranger than fiction. And it's comforting to find that everyone has something to hide. And we, as people, might not be that different after all.

Oh Britney!

Tell me if this qualifies as sexy.

It doesn't look as repulsive the more I look at them, but honestly I was kind of shocked at what she's doing! So much so that I'm beginning to lose faith in her.

She's done a TV interview recently, and cried on that one. It was a primetime slot, ensuring that everyone who turned on the TV could have a good look at what seemed to be the pop princess falling from grace. The begging, complaining that the papparazzi's hounding has taken its toll on her happiness. While I agree with most of the points she makes in the interview, I also have to agree with others who said that she sounded dumb and disturbingly common. There's even a spoof of her interview here.

Reports has it that she did this interview as an attack on celeb weeklies and their papparazzi to make them stay away from her. On top of that, she wanted to be back in the spotlight as the "perfect" person, instead of being portrayed with scathing accusations that her marriage was broken and that she was a bad mother. However it backfired and 87% of the people polled by US Weekly said they had less respect for Britney after that. It is rumoured that she then tried to sell an interview of her in good light for $200,000, but there were no takers, till OK! bought it for $5,000. She's trying so hard to manipulate the media, and to play the game, but it seems that she's not winning.

And she's using her final weapon, it seems. Britney is sueing 8 tabloids for divorce rumours.

The only way she can show that she's on top of her game, is to do her job well. Which is to make good music. It doesn't matter if it becomes forgettable or disposable; at least she has a legit reason to portray herself as sexy and cool in her music videos and do interviews about her working life instead. But with the second baby coming along, she has postponed her album work to two years later.

Portugal All The Way!

So yesterday there was a showdown between Ecuador and England as well as Portugal and Netherlands. My family went to this hawker at Yishun. The food was bloody good! I should've taken a photo of the stingray and the oyster omelette! Fantastic stuff. We were on our desert of fruit when the first match began at 11pm.

Mak was already in camp and gave me a call before the match, asking me for live updates! And even know I only know the bare minimum (before yesterday I couldn't tell the difference between a penalty and a free kick, but I do now!), I tried my best, and I think I did a decent job.

England was the favourite to win, although all the weirdos at the hawker centre let out a huge gasp of disappointment when Ecuador failed to score despite taking a rather good shot.

And Beckham, despite feeling unwell, took the free kick and rammed the ball straight home.

Beckham scored at the 60th minute. The ball brushed past the goalkeeper's fingers and managed to find its way into the goal. He threw up a few minutes after that, and left at the 86th minute.

Despite it all, Captain Becks was ecstatic as he was the one who gave England the win and brought them into the next round of 8. Anyway, England didn't play very well for the rest of the match. It was practically a snooze-fest, and the team still hasn't lived up to expectations. It's true that they got the score to move forward, but the spirit of footie just ain't there.

And I went for a nap before being woken up at 3AM to watch the Portugal match against Netherlands. It was an exceptionally thrilling match. Although sometimes not in the most positive ways.

There was plenty of drama. The referee was giving out cards like free. The players got really really fierce with each other. Tempers flared. And worst of all, Cristiano Ronaldo got injured! In a show of great determination, he stayed on to play a part in the goal scored by Maniche. He went on and off the field a couple of times to get his injury treated but left eventually, after 34 minutes.

In tears, might I add. What can I say? The man's passionate about the game.

Okay, so in the second half I fell asleep for about 15 minutes or something, but there was still a lot of activity going on. I was surprised by Deco's exit after he was awarded the second yellow card. I think that Portugal will not be the same without him in the next match which they will be playing against...

...England.

Nail-biting match for sure. No prizes for guessing who I'm rooting for.

Collage

I was so bored so I spent an hour or so doing this. It's not very professional or anything. I guess I tried to squeeze too many photos into the thing! But still, it's a good collage of all the things I've did this year. Cool stuff! Enjoyed doing it. And enjoy looking at it even more. It's also a small tribute to all the people who made a difference in my life. Love ya'll!

Waiting for Trump Card

So now I'm either waiting for a beehive to fall on my head (I seem to be obsessed with things falling from the sky recently) or the trump card to show and tell me that I've won the big prize of taking the shuttle bus ride to my camp.

If you see any of those words on TV later, or even hear them on radio for that matter, picture this in your head. I'll be rushing out of the house. I'll be waiting for the bus. I'll be on the bus to camp. I'll be changing into uniform. I'll be scanning my card to register my presence. After that hopefully I'll be able to come back home. If not they can always make life hard by doing the "equipped" thingy.

I'm either whining or raving about music. This blog only has 2 kinds of entries eh?

Suddenly I'm feeling rather lost with my life. I guess that's the main reason why I was so pissed off yesterday. I don't really accomplish anything by waiting desperately to book out. And when I do, I wait at home to get mobilised. So, maybe I could do something meaningful while I'm at home, but I just can't see what there is to do!

I watched another couple of episodes of The OC. I'm 3 episodes away from the end of Season 3. I can't handle it any more! Ooh, and great shocker by having Anna and Theresa come back so near to the grand finale.

Monday's an off day. Maybe I'll go to Sentosa.

I'm aware of how lousy I am of asking people out. Blah. Still am.

Need to get my priorities in life right again.

20. Beautiful Love - Tanya Chua (NEW)

Call it obsessive with The OC, but the #1 track this week never fails to get me emotional. It's a remake of an old song, but not any other "old" track. Forever Young is probably one of the songs in the soundtracks of the lives of our parents and there's little wonder why. From the melody to the lyrics, the entire song doesn't need much effort to be impactful and doesn't even struggle to stay current. Universal age-old themes explored by the lyrics are timeless. Love this track.

At #2 after only 2 weeks in the chart is Jolin's Mr Q. To me it's something like Zhen Yi Zhi Yan Bi Yi Zhi Yan II, which of course becomes an easy favourite of mine. Bimbotic, instantly likeable, singing at 200km/h... what's there not to like? The video features Edison Chen, which I must've mentioned a million time already! Good stuff!

#3 is Maybe, and the more I listen to it, it just blends in with all the other tracks on the chart that I forget that it's sung by someone I know! =p

#5 is former #1 Madonna, who employs the use of animation for this video. It was only released about 2 weeks ago tops. It's doing well on dance charts around the world. Anyway, despite her album sales not being outstanding (it's just very very good), her sold out concerts are a different story all together. Rumour has it that Mariah has cancelled three dates on her tour and Madonna has been delighted that her old nemesis has still not been able to outperform her at some aspects of her singing career. I'm not rooting for anybody though! Speaking of these divas, Mariah also looks set to record a track with Janet, for her upcoming album 20 Years Old.

A string of new entries to introduce. It seems that this year will see the Revenge of the Teen Pop Idols. Each showing a desperate need to move away from their pop roots to occupy a niche in the industry, and all of them seem to be succeeding! First up at #14 is Beyonce with Deja-Vu, the leading track off her upcoming album B-Day. She deals with the Pop that makes you get out of your chair and dance. Not changing much of her winning formula, even getting Jay-Z in the track once again, the track sounds a bit much like her previous works, but you can never get too much of a good thing! At #13 is the long-awaited comeback from Christina Aguilera, a track that introduces her daring at trying out new musical genres and she makes it instantly likeable. Ain't No Other Man has a bit of the jazz and blues sounds, but instead of sounding dated,it's a track with a killer chorus that sticks to your head! At #19 is Pink, with Who Knew, the second single off her current album. Choosing a more mellowed down track compared to Stupid Girls, Pink shows off her credibility and comes across as "real" and able to speak her mind through her songs. Fab.

Others from the Teen Pop wave who are set to make their presence felt this year include Justin Timberlake whose new album FutureSex/LoveSounds featuring the lead single SexyBack which arrives in August. SexyBack was co-written and co-produced by Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nate Hills. Justin's N'sync bandmate JC Chasez is also ready to release his sophomore album. The first single is Until Yesterday, a song he wrote with Justin Timberlake. Not one to sit back and watch fellow (ex)Teen Idol (ex husband) Nick Lachey release an album, Jessica Simpson has also sent a new track to radio, titled Public Affair. I haven't heart it but Billboard says "Her first release post-100 mph ascent to the A-list is an ecstatic pure-pop frolic reminiscent of Madonna's "Lucky Star.".

Now I would like you to try to doubt the credibility of this wave. With media attention under their belts, they can easily make the headlines they need to publicise their album, and all of them are set to sell decently, some more decently than others. Can't wait for it!

At #20 is Tanya Chua with Beautiful Love, off her critically-lauded greatest hits album. Also after winning the Golden Melody awards this year, I think she's moving towards greater stuff. She makes me a proud Singaporean! =P

New tracks that may debut next week (probably not because of the stiff competition in the charts now!) include the new Janet song Call On Me, Nelly Furtado's Maneater, Oakenfold ft Brittany Murphy in Faster Kill Pussycat. Till next week!

Anger Management

I know I haven't been angry in a very long time. But I probably burst out due to just holding it in for too long.

Simple scenario. My bro went out to buy dinner. I came back just in time to use the comp. He came back. I told him I'd let him use once he finished his dinner. But he just stood there and made it look like I owed him something. I unplugged the earphones and connected it to the speaker. In the process I accidentally loosened the screen's wires. Screen went blank. He started on a torrent of insults and blames. Pissed me off. Then there was a lot of vulgarities exchanged. Ego at all time high. After that I just stormed out of the house.

I wanted very badly to get intoxicated but decided against it after all. Anyway, I hate my brother a lot. But I was just too tired to fight with him and everything. It took so much for me to earn the off, because I haven't got any sports achievements or anything to get it, I had to burn one weekend in order to get the off. Then there was the "fighting" to get the off. And I had to come back home and see his disgusting face.

I walked around Causeway Point a lot, trying very hard to stop myself from using retail therapy. I really don't want to go to Bangkok broke. After all it's less than 3 weeks away. Then I got really sick of Woodlands in general, took a train to Bishan. The train ride was strangely rather therapeutic. Or maybe I was just relieved to be sitting down after all that walking. At that time was also messaging 3 people who helped me not lose my head. One of whom was my best friend, but he was kind of busy that night too, so I was cool with it, or else I'd have went to meet him. By the time I reached Northpoint I more or less calmed down. And I called home, to say that I'd be back. My mom called me like 50 times, till I had to set my phone on divert so that I'd be able to message properly. Didn't do much after that. Ate at Mcdonalds, and enjoyed the football match. Betted 5 bucks on Portugal winning and they did, despite the exclusion of about 5 people from their original line-up. The second half was fucking boring though.

And now... I'm 5 hours from booking in. Didn't even accomplish much today unless you count 2 episodes of The OC. I did a lot of blog surfing, but never actually got down to reading, other than a rare few. Oh, and the computer's back on its mouseballs. Working perfectly fine once again. I've only got these hours to make everything worth it. I think I might go for a swim now, although there's no sun and it's bloody cloudy. It's 1650 already!

I blame my procrastinating for not going when the sun was out earlier!

I guess I'm reflecting on my actions. It was childish but I really felt the need to leave the house. I felt terribly trapped. But still, I went home in the end.

Too much anguish. Need to have a really chilled out weekend.

She's The Man

Yesterday I met Junior at Cineleisure to watch She's The Man. Although he has already watched it, he was nice enough to accompany me to watch it! Haha... I knew for a long time that this movie would be pretty good. It's just some kind of gut feeling in me that told me that I shouldn't miss it. And sure enough, it didn't disappoint.

After that we went to have Mudpies at NYDC. My favourite alcohol is Irish Cream, so when I saw that there was an Irish Cream Mudpie, I chose it without hesistation! It was bloody good. The problem with the outdoor NYDC is that the sunlight from the setting sun is super glaring and it made the place kind of hot. Only certain areas where shaded away from the sun, but those that were in the shade were rather noisy! So we ended up eating under the sun. Kind of like a picnic! Haha! Went back home rather early because I had a Father's Day buffet at my grandparents' house to attend!

Enjoyed myself a whole lot from all the talking and the photo-taking!

Okay, on to She's The Man!

It's a hilarious movie that will get you laughing from beginning to end. It's full of teen humour. And another one of those feel good movies. The various actors portrayed their "labelled" charcters very well. The jock, the bimbo, the nerd, the ugly etc. It was refreshing to see all the new faces acting together and bringing this movie to great heights. It's very good for a teen flick (I've been hearing bad things about Just My Luck already! Poor Lindsay Lohan!), probably because it's based on a Shakespeare story! It has a happy and predictable ending, as expected, but instead of coming across as cliche and seen-it-all-before, the story is told in such a way that you really wish the happy ending would come true!

Isn't it a fantasy that all of us want to believe in?

One of the most outstanding actors is model-turned-actor Channing Tatum. I forsee him doing really great things in the future!

All Hail Portugal

Portugal is probably my favourite team, right up there with Argentina. It's all down to that one man, but of course, I've seen them play a match or two during the Euro Cup (by some freak accident) and they are pretty good.

However, last night's match against Iran was nerve-wrecking. I was expecting them to get an early lead so as to play comfortably for the rest of the match. I mean, this seems to be the tactic applied by teams like England and Argentina (because they're the only matches I've watched), so it is to my frustration, as well as theirs, that their attack in the first half failed to bear them any fruit.

Figo, the captain of the Portugese team took a nasty hit on the face when one of the Iranians did a rather high kick. He was bleeding and the cut looked deep, but he stood up after a long while and continued playing anyway. The guy didn't even receive a freaking yellow card! The drama on the field was intense.

The second half saw Deco scoring the first goal for Portugal, assisted by Figo. That was a real good one! It was the kind of goal that I jumped up from my seat and cheered about. I couldn't help but feel relieved for Portugal, especially since they were trying hard, and Iran was doing much better with their passing. There was this group hug and everything but I noticed, or at least I didn't see, Ronaldo joining in.

He's a stuck up guy.

I think that's cool...

...Because he managed to score a goal on his own after he got to take a penalty! Look at the euphoria on that guy's face! And of course after that everyone came over to congratulate him and everything. Haha... In a way he's just like a little kid. He showed his frustration blatantly at not being to score throughout the entire match. He was fast, but the defenders decided to just throw themselves in his way, without even trying to go for the ball. With Ronaldo's control (and a few stunts he pulled like the many consecutive step-overs) it'd be hard for the Iranian defenders to actually tackle the ball from him.

Whatever it is, I think he's got a flair on the field. In addition to that, he brings a very human element to the game. Got to see a lot of his frustration, a meek smile after committing some errors, and of course the smug, satisfied grin when he scored that penalty. Damn good stuff. Introducing my favourite player this world cup, Cristiano Ronaldo.

World Cup

Okay, so everyone knows, especially my bestest friends Mak and Jie Yu, that I don't like soccer. So these two soccer fanatics have never attempted to bring up the topic. Well, at least almost never! Haha, and both were kind of shocked to hear that I've been watching some matches.

I'm still not a fan of football. I've got to say that much. It started way back when I was in Primary School. I was hardly good at it, I didn't find it very interesting. Who am I kidding! I hated the sport. There were so many people going after one ball, tackling, roughing it out... My idea of a sport was a non-contact one. Of course, now I've grown up and matured and stop being so critical of other sports, and at the same time got to take a liking to sports in general.

And maybe betting. LOL.

The first match I watched was England versus Paraguay. The first half was rather interesting, till they decided to maintain their 1-0 lead and not do much attacking! I thought Lampard and Gerrard did decently well.

I liked their playing. I'm not too good at all the technicalities of soccer, so forgive me for my mistakes if I have any! The good thing about watching an English match was that I knew almost all of the players by name. So in some way they were pretty familiar to me. For other teams I can hardly name 2 players even! But that's what happens when you only get involved in the World Cup season!

After that I made my first bet on a Brazil match. I can't even remember who they were playing against. Anyway, I won 7 bucks from that one! Haha! I'm not a big fan of Brazil and that match was at 3AM so I couldn't catch it.

I think yesterday's match was the most decent one I've ever caught. Not that I've been watching many so far, but those that I've sat through deserve to be documented. It was Argentina's 6-0 win over Serbia! I had a great time watching that match because my friend actually betted 200 bucks on it, for Argentina to take the lead during the first half of the game. I betted a modest 10 bucks. Nonetheless, I shouted out rather loudly when the first goal was scored!

I know the hot favourite to come out and play on the field after a substitution was Messi, but I can't help but be in awe of both Cambiasso (who was also subed!) and Saviola. I don't know how good they really are but I just enjoyed watching them play. Was quite doubtful of Cambiasso when he stepped in but he proved himself with that fantastic goal, which was probably the one I thought was most fab out of the 6!

Er, so my total earnings stand at 13 dollars! Haha... I'm looking forward to watching tonight's Portugal match if I can because there's Cristiano Ronaldo! I think he's damn cool.

Don't get me to comment on skills (that kills as Charles would say) because I don't know shite about those. All I can say is that that guy looks damn cool with the ball and he looks like he's handling the game with class. Such vague and un-soccerish terms! But watching the match together with yesterday's standby teams which couldn't book out was really a cool bonding session too. Heard that the 12AM match was good, but I didn't watch it because I just really wanted to sleep.

Hmmm, I think I'll stop betting once the group stages end. It's the thrill of the win. I do like the sport if I see players I recognise! I'm so not addicted. To betting that is.

This entry's kind of a mess. =p

Out All Nite

I am so exhausted now, but my brain refuses to go to sleep. I got back home at 730AM, and after taking out my contact lenses and having a bloody cold shower, I was shocked awake again. Now I've got a slight fever, but I'm going to take panadol. I cannot believe it but I'm going for a karoke session.

Anyway, yesterday I was such a whiner and Zhenhui and Shuming met me for Karaoke at Party World. We had a hell of a time there because the environment was different. It was a little bit more grand, the TV screen was bigger and the mics were a tad better. Oh, actually I came early and wanted to buy something from NUM. Hmmm, still considering.

Well, sang a good few songs, including some that I haven't heard in a long time. I surprised myself by singing one of Leon Lai's techno songs! I can't believe I was such a big fan last time that I dug out all his older songs to get acquainted with his works. Did a lot of other songs too, especially Zhao Pai Dong Zhuo. And Zhenhui took a lot of photos and I accidentally deleted all of them. Therefore I have no photos of any of the singing done at Party World. And I hate myself for it. Boo.

We walked all the way in the direction of PS and stopped by to eat and at the same time decide where to go.

Zhenhui was the only one eating so Shuming and I indulged in some serious cam-whoring. Very serious. Anyway, after that we decided to go to the airport - it was our original plan after all! We had all the luck in the world when we managed to catch a Merc cab! We went all the way to Terminal 2.

And Terminal 2 was deserted! There was absolutely nothing going on there! We walked around and well, got a bit mischievious. Some form of reliving childhood? Haha... the chance to act juvenile again, without a care in the world.

Shh... don't tell anyone that we're all turning 20 this year k?

Managed to find a place to take a photo of us as a trio by putting the camera on the table of one of the restaurants! Kinda funny, but it worked.

After that we went to look for some place to eat and realised that there was none in Terminal 2 (when in fact Mcs was there!). It was cold and we decided to walk to T1 from the outside. And we caught the fantastic view of the Control Tower.

Eh, we also ended up playing with the trolley again, but I think enough of those photos already!

Due to the very crappy view of aeroplanes at the viewing gallery at T2, we decided to stop by at T1's viewing gallery. It looked as fantastic as ever, even though it was pretty quiet. Few planes were on the move but we managed to catch some China plane in action. The lights were also very nice to look at.

Sorry if I don't sound coherent, I blame it all on the lack of sleep.

We went to drop Shuming off at her house before Zhenhui and I chilled out at Macdonalds talking about a whole lot of stuff! Waited for 2 hours because we thought she'd be joining us for breakfast. Both of us could barely keep our eyes open and our brains were on the verge of shut down. The place was kinda cool - the Portugese match was showing, but we didn't really catch it because it was too noisy inside. However, the 24 hour Macs was a great place.

Really enjoyed myself a lot, and took my mind off things! Yay to the fantastic trio!
