Edison and Jay... so scandalous!
I'm online, having an innocent chat and suddenly my fellow Jay fan (well, she's a humungous Jay fan, I'm just a normal one), Ming Boon tells me - Edison and Jay are having a scandal!

I'm big fan of both of them myself, and I've seen plenty of photos of them, so the first one I thought of, was this one:
Now, doesn't that look like a photo of two good buddies hanging out? How innocent can it be. True enough, they both have some stuff in common. They both do Pepsi commercials together and they've just finish promoting Initial D, which they both starred in. Innocent stuff. Well, then she sent me this photo:
My first reaction was: Woah! Edison is wearing such a cleavage baring shirt. Of course, that was besides the point. Ming Boon asked me to look at Jay's expression. And I did. Shockingly enough... doesn't it seem that Jay is looking LOVINGLY in Ed's direction? Scandalous! So I told her to send me more photos of them from that press conference. She names this the "pei ni qu kan liu xing yu" (lookin' at shootin stars) photo.
Well, I didn't believe it at first, but it was becoming more and more obvious. I asked Ming Boon who started it and she said it was probably Edison. I was like: What the hell! It should probably be Jay because Edison's the one who's good looking. Okay, maybe Edison wanted to lure Jay into writing songs for him. That's always probable! Meanwhile, she came up with a couple of scandalous theories...
Now, we shouldn't make accusations without proof... so here we have it!
Ming Boon told me that Ed's pose was rather ai mei. And I agree with that. Okay, so this photo is actually a combination of 4 seperate photos because I've seen a photo of all of them solo, just that this advert has decided to stick all of them together. But why Edison in between Jay and Jolin? I have no idea. Maybe he wants the best of both worlds or he bribed the Pepsi people to have the spot beside Jay. I told MB that they should just shoot a porn film. And MB said that'll probably be the only porn film she'll ever watch. See? It'll probably be a low-budget yet high earning film. Copyright here.

Me and some of my best guy buddies are like that. Always chummy with each other. But not this close! MB said that it's like they're leaving poor Shawn Yue out of the picture on purpose. Hmmm. Also, notice it's always Edison who's making the move on Jay. I wonder...
Okay, now this is just outrageous. Can they get any closer? Gosh!
Still, I'm really only joking. Seriously! (The irony!) I hope I don't offend anybody with the stuff I put up. Especially not Edison or Jay! If this pisses them off if they ever read it I'll be full of regret. Honest! Don't sue me either. I'm a poor guy. If you want to, you could get your record company to send an email to take this thing down. I could be the biggest fan you ever lose! Both of ya! It's true! I've got Ed's first Chinese album Ed Is On, I've got his greatest hits compilation, Hits or Misses, in Cantonese even though I probably don't understand a freaking thing that's in there. Also, I got his other Cantonese album Please Steal This Album, which is a bloody fantastic hip hop album. I've been wanting to get his other chinese album and the latest canto album but they're at priced at 150% of other discs! As for Jay, I've got every CD and VCD since Fantasy. Come on! It's all in the name of good fun. And since both of them are young and dashing and girl magnets, they are 100% straight. Trust me on that... No, wait, this just came in.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
It's quite terrible of me to name my entries after movies but still, first up on what happened yesterday.
I met up with Si Hua and Sequeena for a late breakfast at about 10AM. We sat at one corner of the Sun Plaza Mcs that we used to frequent when we were in secondary school. It brought back a lot of memories for us because we used to study there in the morning for the 'O' levels, but ended up chatting and experimenting on how many $2 sausage mcmuffins can be eaten per person before 11AM. Anyway, we got to see the many photographs that we took last week and they were rather interesting. I wonder if anyone is going to develope them. I know I will.
After that we went to shop around to buy some stuff to bring to Si Hua's sister's house. We bought 3 packets of tomyam, one bottle of Zappel. I think that was about it. It was a 15 minute walk to the house, and I must say it looked very pretty. Of course the first attraction was Si Hua's nephew, Kenzo, who's a month old. Cool name huh! I don't even know whether I spelt that correct. We were greeted by her very hospitable sister and we took our time to eat our cup noodles. Nana and I ended up playing Lego with Joel, Kenzo's older 4 year old brother. Actually it seemed more like Nana and I were the kids. It was quite fun to do something simple like building a house out of Lego. After that we took a few photographs of the house with Joel (waiting for Nana to post those pics up in her blog. Hurry up woman!) Oh, then Si Hua's parents came by when we were testing the Macadascar VCD. The three of us are kinda close so her parents do know us pretty well. Haha... We had a mini-eating session again, cooking another cup noodles and this durian puff which her dad bought. Yummy! I forgot to mention that I had the opportunity to taste the extremely sinful Seafood-flavoured potato chips. Gosh. They tasted good too!
Nana and I talked for a long while about a lot of stuff. It's amazing how we can talk about meaningful stuff (graduation, our future plans, studies) without going through a lot of small talk. We were so engrossed that I forgot to take the FIR CD in the end. Darn. I went straight to Far East to take a walk and I felt kind of weird because it's been a long time since I've been there! Gosh. It looks kind of different and after spending quite some time there, I got to see a lot of interesting stuff that I'll be spending money and time on, but that'll be for next time. Shan't give all my discoveries away.
Met Van rather late and by that time I had to get 2105's tix for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. While walking to PS, I saw Shuming, who didn't have the lucky chance of seeing me. She was with... arhm. Anyway, she called when I was buying the tickets. Oh, and 2 thumbs up for her hair. We were walking rather quickly in opposite directions so it did take some time for me to register that it was actually her. Looking good ya! When I was walking to this hawker place which I can't describe, Jia Hui saw me and he gave me a call. Damn! I wish I was the one who saw him instead. By the time he called I was rather far from his location already. And I was kind of surprised to hear from him. It's been 7 years since we've known each other. Wow.
Anyway, had a great dinner at the place with Van. She told me about her 2 weeks of very busy hostel life and all the fantastic people she got to know. For her it was almost like one big happy family. They had rag day, flag day etc. etc. and she looked like she's been enjoying herself lots. Good for her. We walked back just in time for the start of the movie!
Bring on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
I was enthralled from the very beginning to the very end. Despite having read the book a couple of times, this movie packs some very special things that are not included in the book and ups the surprise factor. Other than that, the movie follows the content of the book religiously. I haven't read the book in the past 7 years, yet I could remember some of the lines that were taken out word for word and added into the script. Very cool.
Not only has the movie able to stay true the book, it also brought the everything to life. When Roald Dahl could only cook up the images in his head, Tim Burton and his team have managed to translate all of that to awesome images on screen. That in itself is a huge achievement. Accompanied by the outrageously fantastic soundtrack, it is certainly one of the most memorable movies in recent times which makes use of music to enhance the entire mood of the movie. From the trucks moving out to deliver chocolates to giving melody to the poem that Roald Dahl wrote for the Oompa Loompas to sing, the people behind the scenes who created such strong musical backing for the movie deserved to be recognised.
For the uninitiated, the story is about Willy Wonka trying to find someone to hand over his factory to because he doesn't have any children. Thus, he cooks up a masterplan where he'd hide 5 Golden Tickets in ordinary chocolate bars and the kids who find it will have a chance to tour his factory. In the process, he'd be able to pick up the good kids from the bad kids and eventually find his predecessor. Simple plot, but there is not one second that you'll feel left out of the story, despite this essentially written for children. Johnny Depp's acting was magnificent, to say the least. The man brought the eccentric Willy Wonka to life and is in fact one of his most memorable roles to date. He was fab in Pirates of the Carribean too. You may think you know the book very well, but this movie will have your attention from beginning till end.
However, like a chocolate, it was only as good as the movie lasted. It isn't reflective of anything in any way. I give it 4/5 stars. Good stuff! I'll be catching another movie later. I hear you gasp. I'm sorry, I'm a poor bloke but still...

Mariah Carey - Shake It Off
That's right. On May 07, I wrote an entry on how Mariah's coming back in a big way with the second single, We Belong Together. The track is now on its 10th non-consecutive week at #1 on Billboard, and might just grow to be the song with the most weeks at #1 of this decade. As of now, here's the competition:

3 months after WBT was released, her 3rd single has been unleashed and it is none other than the sexy and equally cool Shake It Off! Sounding a tad like Usher's Confessions Pt II, she sings the song with a very strong R&B feel. I loved the song the first time I heard it. With a cool beat to boot and smooth vocals, it's no wonder that despite the presence of WBT at #1 on Billboard, Shake It Off rises from #50 to #19 and is likely to enter the top 10 next week. Sultry yet strong, this track will most certainly turn out to be a huge hit, and is also going to boost worldwide album sales which currently stand at 4.5 million. I was also about to comment on her diva-ish behavior when she performed during Live 8, asking for water and a mic stand. Demanding woman she is! She acts as though she's royalty! But then again, she was the queen of the stage and her performance was absolutely amazing. All the things she said brought her character on show, and made the performance more personal.
So she's forgiven.
Anyway here is what Mariah has to say about Shake It Off:
"Shake It Off" is definitely one of my favorite songs from The Emancipation of Mimi. It was the first time I went down to Atlanta to work with JD. I don't really know how to explain how the song happened, but Jermaine is just incredible with the beats. We started singing different melodies and coming up with different lyrics. At first Jermaine was singing, "I gotta get away," and I was like, "That's a cool concept and stuff, but I feel like we could do something more specific." We were just sitting around and "Shake It Off" just came out of the blue like it happens when you're writing. To me it just says so much because it's like, when you're going through some drama and you just want to get through it, you put that song on and it takes you out of whatever mood you're in.
