I had an awesome time BBQ-ing that day. I think I make a pretty good chef. Henceforth I volunteer to do all BBQ-ing at such BBQ parties! Quality food guaranteed! Haha!

I had a lot of fun even though it was severely overcroded at East Coast that day. Sheesh, I swear we need more land.

Need for Speed

My second time blading, this time with Edric as my shi fu. I was afraid and so the uncle gave me knee guards.

And elbow guards.

And wrist guards. Which all matched my red singlet very well

The wrist guards came in very handy during my dramatic falls. I flapped my arms all over the place trying to regain balance and my hands were the first to hit the ground when I could see the ground rushing to my face.

I've never bladed such a great distance so it was a great achievement.

Other than chilling out at Cafe Del Mar, I've also imagined myself blading at East Coast, with Ray Ban sunglasses on, listening to my mp3 player. It's just a matter of time...

Till I master blading and not perform epic falls worthy of America's Funniest Home Videos.

The Injured Foot

"You wanna go next?"

"Ok."

I gained momentum, knowing that it'd take close to my maximum speed to conquer that ridiculously steep slope. So I pedalled madly and the bicycle went up easily. The wall came nearer and with all my might I forced myself not to turn sharply as I would only fall off the bike. With that my left foot banged into the wall and I came to a sudden halt.

I in shock as I saw blood filling the gaps between my toes. The pain was slow and throbbing. I felt that I had it in control. Taking deep breaths, I went down the other side without my bicycle.

When I lifted my foot out of my slipper, three-quarters of it was bloody. With help from Ness, Ros and Melvin, the wound got cleaned. I felt kind of light headed. They told me later that I looked pale. The pain was not sharp but persistent. I laid down on the stone table and the three of them bandaged it up and offered me water. I might have been somewhat delirious, moaning and yelping in pain. They did first aid on me unflinchingly (despite a not-very-helpful comment about the smell) and did not make much of a fuss, except that I should probably visit a doctor.

The force was strong enough such that it bent the pedal inwards and that required a lot of knocking to fix. There were friction marks on the side of my slipper which came into contact with the wall.

Despite all that, their strength gave me strength to cycle all the way back to East Coast.

Thinking back it was weird how they managed to give me show right amount of concern without treating me like a baby. I really appreciated that.

Qiqi met us after that and brough reinforcements with her. Must say that I felt much better about everything after that.

I've been hobbling around for the past couple of days, visited a useless doctor and applied stuff on it. It's getting better although the swelling's yet to gone done completely. It was only till today that the pain subsided considerably.

Admittedly it was a silly stunt. I would never have done it. But I did it because of this childish, unfulfilled need to do things on impulse. To be reckless. All I've ever done was be obedient, following the rules, not daring to take chances and doubting my ability. In that sense all I wanted to do was conquer a bridge. I can't say I've regretted it but it was just why I did it.

Just like the guy who cycled proudly past us with no hands, I wouldn't know if I didn't try.

Blading

01

I went blading for the first time in my life at East Coast on Monday with Fukang.

He knew how to blade and obviously, being my first time, I didn't.

The thing I realised was that how much the experience was a metaphor for our friendship of almost 7 years. He gave me support when I was about to fall, helped me up when I was down and he waited patiently while I was trailing behind. After we graduated from secondary school, we must've met each other about 10 times, but everytime we do, it's as if time had stood still.

He's not smiling because he was having a fever that day. Or maybe he thinks the serious look works for him.

I was pretty much drenched in sweat within the first 10 minutes I was on roller-blades. Probably out of nervousness and the intense struggle of keeping my balance.

It was thrilling. Despite my discomfort I gave it my best shot. There was blood. But I've grown. I'm no longer the person hiding in the corner. It's not something to boast about but I feel that I'm more confident in my own skin, willing to try new things and I'm more afraid of not having attempted than facing failure.

It was just a simple blading session at East Coast but I've gained so much.

When was the last time you tried something for the first time?

P/S: I've just listened to Stranger for the 150 millionth time and I'm about to throw up but for some reason I can't stop. It's satanic.

Mahjong Madness

There was a comapany cohesion yesterday at East Coast Park. We were supposed to be BBQ-ing but all I did was mingle around with my platoonmates. I guess it's strange that once upon a time we'd see each other from the moment we woke up in the morning right down to the time we shut our eyes for slumber again at night. I think I'm not used to seeing them at such irregular intervals! Anyway, I'm tired of BB

After that I took a cab along with Ivan, Samuel and Guo Fei to Causeway Point to withdraw money. We had our dinner at the coffeeshop near Ivan's house. The food was decent and helped fuel us with the energy needed for the night ahead. We headed to Ivan's house and started playing Mahjong almost immediately. There were only a couple of "technical breaks" in between where we took the chance to visit the toilet, watch TV, rest our eyes and for them to settle some of their online-gaming stuff. My contact lenses irked me so much at around 11PM or so that I threw them out for good, despite not wearing them for a month yet! We pounded the tiles with gusto all the way till 630AM. The last few games were played with a bit less enthusiasm than what we had initially but it was highly entertaining, and we shared a few good laughs along the way. It's funny how many names can be associated with the characters on the Mahjong tiles. We went our seperate ways after that, exhausted.

I had a mere 4 hours of sleep before rushing out to meet David at Orchard. We had lunch at KFC and talking about our lives before bracing ourselves for a great hunt at The Heerans, Cineleisure and Far East Plaza. He got for me a shirt (as a Christmas present) from The Heerans with a hilarious string of words on it. I'll post a photo of it once I get the chance. The second shirt would be 40% off and he got for himself a brown one with a graphic design. We then made our way to Sembawang Music at Cine where he got 2 CDs. I wanted very badly to gain posession of Cao Ge's DVD, but I don't know when my next pay is coming! Bumped into Nathaniel there too. After that we went to Far East Plaza where he got for himself a 3/4 pants. I don't know if I'm the spending externality for him (as Jie Yu probably is for me!), but the last time we went out he spent over a hundred bucks too! Met Bing Xiang and his group of ODAC friends there as well. It was fun to go shopping... even though I do it all the time!

Kiss-Off

Today's Father's Day so let me start of by wishing all Dads a Happy Father's Day! That being done, I'll be rushing off to a relatives' house to celebrate it, so this last entry of the week is going to be a short one.

Speaking of family, here's a blend of the photos of my 2 siblings when we went to East Coast last week!

I had tonnes of fun blogging this week. This must be one of the most word-filled weekends of posts ever! I haven't been inspired much by any new music this week so I guess we'll have to see if there's anything fresh and exciting next week. If you've got anything of interest, tag me too. This week, it was Mr and Mrs Smith. Next week, you can expect to see a review of Initial D (if I can get tickets for it!) and more stuff on entertainment, and ME! Up for download this week is a rock remix of Toxic - http://s29.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=39N8TV8UY92JF3PU2KVD2NVW0J .

Till the next weekend, have fun and Keep Your Cool!0789! Posted by Hello
