Dress Up N Dine II

01

And this is my current desktop wallpaper! They were supposed to dress up as movie characters so the cowboys could be from Wild Wild West or Brookeback Mountain, it's anybody's guess! Yulian went as Pocahantas, and many many people came up to her to tell her that she looked really good that night! Haha...

01

I can't possibly post all the pictures individually so I got them together! Haha... all from clockwise, my Sp Rachel, Vice-Chair of Dnd Wenxing, Publications head Clarence, and my going-to-school buddy Kristle.

01

Tampines Tampines = Mei Si, one of the coolest people in hall Shaun, last year's Mr Personality (and everyone, both guys and girls, thinks he looks good) Yi Xiang, and the very lovely Shujing. HARLOW!

01

It's freaking Snow White Wei Fang (though she has Cinderella on her desktop), Lao Ba Colin, Head of Cultural Mei Hua, and Wilfred's Fred Flintstone. He won best dressed! (If I'm wrong please don't kill me I was peeping from backstage, couldn't even hear clearly!)

01

And Hall 12 unveils it's Hall King - Wei Siang! Haha... congratulations and well-deserved! I'm brilliant. On the programme notes they actually asked who I think will be Hall King and Queen and I predicted both with great accuracy. I shall start giving 4-D numbers on my blog starting tomorrow. If you buy them and win... you could probably buy me a fridge. I think I need one of those. Haha!

01

Dressed-down and we had the after-party supper at Marina! (My camera ran out of batt!)

Dress Up N Dine I

Unfortunately I haven't got any photographs of the event itself. I think they were taken by the professional photographers, but in any case, I'll try to hunt them down and eventually post them, even if I have to resort to underhand means! Haha... what I do have though, are a couple of backstage "exclusives" (more like camwhoring while waiting) and with the movers and shakers of Hall 12.

01

I can't remember whether this was before or after our pair performance but basically this is what we were wearing. We danced to the Step Up soundtrack, although I can't really remember the title of the song. It's the one that comes on in their finale dance.

01

M4 & F4 - Wen Ee and Eric.

01

The pageant contestants of Tintin - Eric, Li Xuan and me. I think you can tell that the guys had rather thick make up. I don't know why but it looks as if we have on more compared to the girls, and our faces are a bit shiny. If only I had something to blot it out then! Haha!

01

Wu Juan with last year's Mr Popular - the ultra-shuai Wei Hong. Oh, by this time we were all in our formal wear for the catwalk as well as the prize presentation. The gowns look real good. They're sponsored by some Milan's wedding collection!

01

And here's a photo of my OG Tintin! Ah, very grateful for their support and cheering during the entire thing. Tintin rocks!

Pre-Pageant

Pageant is about a lot of preparation. Preparation means sacrificing a lot of sleep. I think. We met at 830AM (okay, fine I came late at 9AM), changed into our respective JC school uniforms and went for breakfast before going to do our make-up.

01

We were really bored so we took a lot of photos. The girls took a really long time.

01

So long that Wei Siang had enough time to take a nap. And we had enough time to pull our silly stunts.

01

After that we went to Hair Profile to get our hair (what else?) done and that took a super long time too! The guys took some xi, nu, ai, le photos!

01

And Eric stared at the fishes.

01

I just want to tell the world that... I got a new phone. I've only had it for one week. Most of you who know me would probably remember my trademark and very cui Nokia phone. Now I've got a Sony Ericsson one and it's bloody good for my phototaking and especially music. Best of all, it comes in my favourite colour!

01

I don't know why I always end up posting photos of Wei Siang and Wu Juan, but they just really look damn good together.

01

We took a couple more group photos. I'm aware that the make-up is bloody thick. It's supposed to last till an event that wasn't going to happen for another 8 hours or so!

01

We made our way down to Sheraton Towers to prepare for the show.

01

Unfortunately we only got to rehearse rather late, but we entertained ourselves with Dai Di and all stupid games in between. We then made our way to the room adjacent to the ballroom where our Dnd was to be held and did a bit of last minute practising before finalling going on stage to practise!

It's Finally Over

I'll be honest, when there are 3 prizes to be won and 5 people who're up for it, the probability is 60% so there's this tiny bit of me hoping that I would've gotten something, but I didn't. It was okay because all my favourite people won something and I cheered madly for them, including my partner who was Ms Popular.

I have a lot to say about the experience, but I'm so tired I think I'll leave it to another time. I've a lot of thanks to give though because I couldn't have done it without them.

I'd like to thank the DnD committee. I was surprised I was chosen, but glad. I heard that it was partially due to my character, which is even better! I'm grateful for the chance to do things I really enjoy, like dancing. To be on stage and seen for something that I've always longed to do is amazing. It's like a dream turned to reality. I also appreciate all the compliments and support that they gave, and I've really learned a lot.

I want to thank my partner for really pulling me up, for being game and open to my suggestions and for being so tireless in our endeavour for perfection of our moves and walks. I still feel that it's wrong of me to expose you to the dancing of Jolin and the overtly sexual moves of Britney, but hey, you won Hall Queen so all that helped to some extent! It's most satisfying to know that you're still a comedian at heart, most unafraid to make fun of yourself despite your insecurities. Working with you was a really memorable experience.

To all the pageant contestants - you guys rock. I wish I had more chance to talk to all of you, because I'm a heart-to-heart talk kinda guy at heart, being entertaining and telling jokes is not my forte. I'm proud to be associated with all of you, and even more happy that we're such a group of fun-loving people who can entertain ourselves at any given opportunity. I've heard of people at other pageants being nasty to each other but we all joined to have fun and that we've never taken that part of the pageant seriously. Ooh, and I demand that I should get a prize of my accurate prediction of Hall King and Queen as stated in the programme. Either that or create one for best dance. Hahaha!

Tintin, you guys rock my socks. I wouldn't even dare to be on stage if you guys hadn't come! The cheers when I came to the front of the stage to do my solo poses made me real speechless and overwhelmed when I walked off stage. I appreciate the words and encouragement you guys have given me at every stage of the pageant, and that you guys are waiting so impatiently for me to join you all again - I'm sure you can tell how impatient I was to join you guys by the way I jumped off stage to be with you guys as soon as I could! I also want to add that all of you looked really cool in the costumes - good effort. I wish I was in a costume with you guys too! Haha...

To my Lao Ba, thanks for making your way down even though you had some important business to attend. I know it's not just to see me, but I'd like to thank you for your time watching and helping me and Jing Ying practise, and offerings of food and drinks and a listening ear through this entire duration of the pageant. I know you're actually disgusted with my Q & A, when I mentioned that one of the last things I'd do before I die would be to fly to USA and ask Britney why she married Kevin Federline, but that's just me!

All the seniors who showed me any form of support. There're just too many to name and I appreciate every single kind word, every single handshake and every single photo taken with me. Off the top of my head I can think of Siting, Shujing, Charlene and Wenxing! It really means a lot that you guys take the initiative to come talk to nervous, poor me and make me feel more of a pageant contestant!

To Kelvin who's always silently there and looking out for me even when I don't know it! Haha... and for driving me back safely and soundly after the entire event even though I live so far out of the way!

Yu Lian, thanks for the SMS encouragements and being so on. You looked gorgeous today. Wei Fang, for believing in me, and yeah, I trust you - pretty girls don't lie.

Daniel, for organising suppers, having breakfast with me when we're both dead tired and basically making me feel like I still had life outside pageant. Thanks for listening to my crap and always keeping your door open for me whenever I need it. You're too cool and you know it. I don't think I have to say any more.

Lastly to people whom I don't know but supported me all the same. If you think that my dancing was good, thank you. If you didn't shake your head when I forgot the steps to the entire last part of my dance, thank you. If you had a blank in memory as you try to recall the parts when I looked awkward on stage, thank you. Basically if you had fun while I was trying to entertain, I'm grateful already.

It's finally over. I know I won't have a tagged attached to me after this. I'll not be Hall King, Mr Popular or Mr Personality. But I don't mind being just Jason. Cos for me, he's good enough.

Phuture Bash

I've sprained my back. It hurts when I breathe hard enough. I try desperately to find a position to sneeze that doesn't make my back feel like it's going to break, but apparently it doesn't exist. I think I got it from my overly vigorous dancing prior to the performance yesterday.

I'm really exhausted today, but I feel like that almost everyday now. I think it comes from the constant "pushing" of limits and challenges of school and hall. I love it, because it makes me feel more alive than I've ever felt, but sometimes I just wish that I had the entire weekend to sleep, to shake off all the tiredness and start the week fresh.

I enjoyed myself a lot yesterday, from the OP fitting to getting my hair done at Hair Profile (again!) at Far East, and then cabbing down to Phuture for rehearsals and make up. I was like a kid in a candy floor when the dance floor was empty and the music was pumping... It was fantastic to have the place to ourselves and we did enjoy every moment of it. It's more of the fact that there was no audience and we had a lot of fun doing what we've always done, dancing, the catwalk and stuff like that.

The performance itself was a different story though. We waited for more than half an hour after 8 before we began. We had alcohol courtesy of our bosses. I thought I did the dancing okay till I missed this entire sequence of steps and then I sort of lost balance during the first step of the pair dance with Jing Ying, but I think it ended well. After that was the catwalk followed by the Q & A, which was made a whole lot funnier because of Jaren and Daren. Seriously. I was more or less comfortable, but I did tense up when I was supposed to answer which is my best asset. I ended up shaking my butt twice crappily. I demand I have a second chance to prove that I can do it as well as Ricky Martin. It was hilarious to have Jaren ask me when I did my practising and my roomie to answer that I did it in the room while I was on the bed and he was on the floor. Kinda retarded but yeah...

The easiest but probably most sian thing was standing there with the voting box and waiting for everyone to vote for their Mr Popular. I only got one person whom I didn't know coming up to me, but yeah, it was great to see Colin, Peijun, Shujing, Ivan etc. etc. I am thankful that voting won't be done the same way again next week. Spare me.

It was an almost totally different situation for the girls who had tonnes of people flocking to them. Haha... it was quite a cool sight, cos everyone had their supporters! Violent voting.

My favourite part was when it all ended and I drank with my OG, I drank with Elyn and her friends, I drank with Ian and his friends as well. It was enough to keep me real high for the rest of the night (and the music SUCKED BIG TIME) and I was quite close to puking, although my mind was clear and I was coherent... I think I danced pretty well though, considering the lack of space. I got commented that I danced like an ah peh. Kaoz... never seen my true power yet! Haha... I do realise that you've to reach a certain high point to dance with wild abandon. And I've also finally realised why the very digusting "This Is Why I'm Hot" Mims song is popular. There're just songs you need to hear in a club to appreciate. Even I liked it when it came on!

The most important thing was hanging out with friends in hall... Kind of bonded on a deeper level with a few more people despite how clubbing is a somewhat superficial social activity!

By the time I reached home my ears were still ringing and I was beginning to get a bit of a headache. Thankfully I don't have a hangover this morning! I still have 4 tuition kids to teach.

Lastly, I'd like to thank Daniel, Yu Lian and Peijun for their SMSes of encouragement and Ivan, Shu Qi and Angel for coming down. Rock on!

Pageant Preview

I've been busy preparing for the upcoming pageant preview that's happening this Saturday. It involves a lot of practice. I'm damn tired from today's trip to the modelling agency and then learning the dance, not to mention fron the day's lessons! It's like there's stuff stuffed into my head continuously... Anyway here're the photos from the day before where we practised in the function hall.

01

The girls hard at work on their posture, working on the 'S' shape!

01

Our very supportive and very kaypoh DnD committee who came down to give us their two cents' worth of advice. Ahhh, gotta thank Yi Xiang and Darren for helping me come up with poses! Luckily for them or I'd be in deep shit today!

01

The hotness is in the pose... =P

01

The girls working it (without Jai).

01

The guys (without Wei Siang), trying to work it but maybe not as successful. Haha... it's the effort that counts!

Pageant Preview details are as follows:

Date: 25th August 2007 Saturday
Time: 8.00pm - 10.00pm
