Multi-tasking

q01

I love this photo because it shows that I can take photos of small objects and eat squid head from Old Chang Kee at the same time!

Actually it's cos it's the first time I think my side view looks nice.

HAHA!

2009

This is the 4th new year that this blog has seen. There was 2006's Happy New Year!, 2007's A New Year, 2008's New Year. I was half tempted to name this entry "Year" but it wouldn't have made much sense.

But I like how it's plainly 2009. No strings attached. No connotations of unachievable expectations, no pining for something that's beautiful only in dreams. It is solid, matter-of-fact as numbers are and sombre. It's a serious, dangerous thing to step into a new year, much like marching to a band whose beat you can't hear. Sometimes we go in with high expectations, overflowing optimism, only to look back and bitch about the fact that everything wasn't what it's supposed to be.

Yes I'm in a bad mood.

It's always amazing how necessary it is to have a restart button. It's an opportunity to throw away the bad sketch on the canvas and get a new, spotless one altogether.

Yes, we are looking for the perfect drawing. One that has the least mistakes, the best mix of colours, the greatest balance, the correct proportions, is the most appreciated, the shiniest of the shiny, the awesomest of the awesome...

I hope I find mine before I run out of canvas.

Straight Bees

Yes that's right. No plus, no minus. Out of the 5 mods I took (the least ever for a semester so far), I got an S for one, and B for everything else.

It's so disgustingly, distinctly average that it makes me feel that there isn't anything that I'm good at! I got 4 B+ for the first sem, 4 B+ for the second sem and just when I thought I should be getting better, I got my lousiest results ever.

4 Bs.

I was in a state of shock and disbelief because it looked completely absurd. There were some mods I spent more time on, some that I liked better than others. In the end all of them yielded the same result - WHAT THE FUCK?!

At the rate that this is going, a second upper is close to becoming impossible. What I've achieved this sem is probably not measurable by grades, but what I failed to achieve academically is glaringly obvious, as shown by the grades.

I need to be more consistent next semester and choose the right modules. It's been 3 semesters - I need to make the lessons learnt count for something, dammit!
